So the explorer.exe on this computer crashes all the time. I am unable to open folders of any kinds. I can however open chrome and certain other program. Some of them crash the first time but open the second. I want to reinstall Windows 7. I can log on in normal mode, its slow but it does do it. However, inserting my usb flash drive with the windows 7 install files on it won't open. The autoplay feature never opens. Guess it requires explorer.exe The start button works and sometimes I can open command prompt but its random. ctrl+alt+del does not open task manager. Usually just freezes the computer. I really just want to reinstall windows so that I don't have to wipe the hard drive. As I am unable to open folders I do not know how to back up files on my desktop that I forgot to back up and are essential. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
My only idea that I had thought of so far was using an .iso file and a mounter. I can install the mounter and put it on the desktop where I can open it but then I don't know how to get to the .iso file I have saved. If I can reach it, would this work to start the process of the repair or is that not possible. I know its two different things I am asking.
And right clicking anything causes everything to crash as well
