Solved Replaced NIC Speakers Quiet & High Pitch Squeal While USB Hphs OK

I could use some help.

I just replaced my network card with a 1 Gb one containingan Intel chip. After doing this I get nosound from my speakers except a high pitch squeal. My USB headphones have the correct sound andno squeal.

I have replaced the speakers with an alternate set and getthe same results so it isn’t the speakers.

I have removed the new NIC and it made no difference in thespeaker issue.

I have a Gigabyte 970A-G46 main board.

Any ideas how to solve this will be greatly appreciated.

Doublecheck the connection to the speaker jack. Make sure you are connecting to the GREEN jack. If you mistakenly plugged into a different jack that could be the problem.

I have double checked it. Still have the issue.

That motherboard is an MSI, not Gigabyte.

Verify the "Speakers" are set as the default Audio playback device, in the Sound Panel/Playback section.

The speakers were not set as the default device. They are now.

I don't get any sound from the PC thru the speakers.

Disconnect the USB headset, in case it is conflicting with the PC sound.

Did that and still no sounds from the PC through the speakers.

Refresh the sound driver. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for your sound driver (Realtek) to highlilght it then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the driver. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. See what that does for it.

Tried that and still no sound from the speakers.

On final thing.
Do the uninstall of Realtek but also uninstall the drivers. Then restart and Window will install the generic, basic function High Definition Audio Drivers. Check to see if you have sound. If there is no sound, with what you have done it suggests something happened to the sound hardware chip when you were inside the PC to install the NIC card.

With the USB headset, it takes digital audio and converts it to analog (basically a sound card) inside the headset and the reason it works OK.

Did that.

Realtek drivers were automatically reinstalled.

Did you check the box to also uninstall the drivers? Normally (all that I've seen) when you also check the box to uninstall the drivers, when you reboot the PC Windows installs the High Definition Audio drivers and not reinstall the Realtek drivers.

When I did it I wasn't certain if I should complete the last step and didn't last time.

I just re followed the instructions entirely. After rebooting the realtek driver is not there and the "High Def Audio Device " driver is.

I still have no PC sounds coming from the speakers. I can see activity on the mixer when playing something with sound.

That says Realtek is not the problem. It still sounds like the wrong device is selected as Default Audio Playback Device.

Please Post a screenshot of the Sound/Playback panel.

For testing, plug the speakers into the front panel headset jack and see if it works.

I just plugged speakers into the front jack and get no sounds.

Sounds like something got zapped when you changed the NIC card. About the only option left is to try a separate sound card.

How are you with monitor stuff? I have another item in the Graphics card section since my second monitor won't display.
