In fact, they are not from buffalo. Instead they are from a cross between a buffalo and a hen. This offspring of two completely different species is called Buffalo hen, or shortly Ben.

The biggest producer of of buffalo wings is a company called Ben & Jerry's, so called because their two main products, buffalo wings from Ben and Jerry, a cross between Jalapeños and berries.
