Hello to all,
I currently use a program called Mozbackup. This backs up all relevant date from Firefox and Thunderbird. I use it to restore and everything comes back right where it is supposed to be.
My request for opinion or advice is: Does Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit have a similar function. I seem to be getting certain errors with backup in Event Viewer.
Thanks and welcome to all who wish to reply!

Windows 7 has a backup program in it that can handle entire system images. If you want something that does an online backup of a small amount of data, Mozbackup will work, but there are alternatives.

It really all depends on what you want, and where you want to store your backups. That's what you should post so we can go further. As an example, before I got a Window Home Server box, I used to use SyncToy on my wife's computer to send her important files, game saves, pictures, etc to the server. My backups weren't off-site, however.

Howdy DeaconFrost,
Thanks for your reply. My circumstances are that I use Macrium Reflect Free for System image storage on 2nd Hard drive (1 TB). Also have copies of all pertinent personal data.
I went into Event Viewer/something log and it shows the faults and warnings. I noted some faults due to Mozbackup and thus as great as it is, been using for years, I am concerned with it and W7 and my intrinsic bad luck with this OS.
Might you disclose some W7 safe alternatives? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I personally use DropBox to store and sync important documents, favorites, etc. I only use the free 2 GB. You could also look into SkyDrive, which is from Microsoft, and gives you 25 GB of online storage, with some file size restrictions. Those two aren't interchangeable, as they were in different ways. I'm still not clear on what you use Mozbackup for, though. Do you have it backing up online 2 GB or less important data? Dropbox can do that, but it doesn't let you choose folders already on your hard drive.

If you just want to back up some files locally to an external drive, something like PureSync will do it.

Mozbackup is a tool to backup Firefox settings, plugins etc.

@glennc, if you are worried about the mozbackup errors in event viewer, please describe them (copy and paste maybe) so we can help. Just because there are some entries in the Eventlog doesnt necessarily mean anything is seriously wrong.

Another option is to use an alternative to Mozbackup such as FEBE.

Thanks, I was looking also eventually for a way to check the synchronization of duplicate folder and files on my main and backup drive. Will any of the ones you've mentioned accomplish this?
Of and I have backups with Mozbackup from years ago, so I don't require them, but they are important and I have access to them with this product.

Howdy and thanks. Well I have old mozbackups that contain important emails and I have deleted them from Thunderbird, but they are still available. Maybe with your assistance we can see how serious these errors are, infinitely appreciative. I will get back with data and shots.

Gah, I got Mozbackup and Mozy mixed up in my head. PureSync will let you specificy files or folders on your main drive, and keep them synced with files on your backup drive, including whatever backup files Mozbackup creates.

Ohh..side by side. Try these one by one:

1) Download and install C++ redist.

Download details: Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Download details: Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

2) It could be a damaged file- delzip179.dll. See if you can get another copy of it, then replace your current one. Incidentally, this file is responsible for the same error in Spybot too. You can also try reinstalling Mozbackup.

3) Side by side errors are very common, I wouldnt worry too much unless Mozbackup is behaving wierdly or the backups dont work.

Hey Bill2,
Thanks for some comforting news. Could you explain a bit about the C++ redist. What it does, sloowly using simple terms? Personally I don't like errors.
If I might ask you to look for a thread on Crash Dump Failures. So far no one has attempted to answer another Administrative Event Error.
Mozbackup seems ok, but I installed Spybot today and it lowered my Reliability Index quit a bit by not starting correctly. Flash of Cryptic message pop-up box.
Thank you Sir.
