Hi Guys
my wife has a Canon Lide 25 scanner - which includes omnipage ocr software.
The scanner always performed well on previous XP installations.
Canon never really got to grips with a satisfactory software update for Win 7 32 bit.
As her use is only very occasional, I wondered if there was a freeby OCR program available that would suit.
Would like abbyy finereader of course - but the cost is not justified against her very small useage/needs.

Your suggestions would be welcomed.

Will give it a whirl. Had to turn off AV to download, and once done, I ran it through (AV switched back on) - also set malwarebytes on it to check. Have installed, and will let the old bat try it for herself to see how it goes and if it suits her.
Will follow this up when a full work out is done.
Thanks again

I have always had great success with using MS OneNote. It is not well publicized, but any scan, or screen shot of say a jpg file, when pasted to oneNote. (right click the image) and there is an option to copy text from picture and paste it to notepad or Word or?? My experience is high 90% accuracy.
