Before installing a new computer for a friend I copied the pst file. After installing the new computer and Outlook (2007), I restored the pst file. Everything is there, but when I create a new email and start typing the addressee name, it won't show up in the instant choices unless it is one that I have recalled since the re-installation. I checked the address book and everyone is still in there.

Any idea of what's wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Yes, that is a separate file located:

C:\Users\{Your Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

You are then looking for an .NK2 file

Please note, the NK2 file is different from the address book / contacts as that's just a cache of people you have sent emails too.

If they are people you really need to keep the address of then you are best saving them as a contact otherwise you run the risk of losing them if the NK2 got corrupt.

Same goes for the .PST, it's always good to back them up otherwise you may lose everything in the event of a hard drive failure.

Thank-you!

Before starting I had read that all info was in the pst, but I see that though all info is in the pst, not all info is in the pst...

MS programmers have a very perverted sense of humor.
I think I would like them.
