restore points created tend to get deleted when I boot up

Hi,

I need help here. For some funny reasons, the restore points created tend to get delted when I boot up my laptop the next day. How do I ensure that my restire points remain. I checked my drive and it still says 7 GB free.

Also, is it possible to auto create the restire point but store them in a different partition on the samd drive?

Are you dual booting with Windows XP by chance?

Sorry, but you will only be able to have restore points saved on the same drive letter that they were created for. Any tampering with them will most likely result in them to no longer work to restore with.

No, I am only booting with Win 7 64 bit OS.

Using OPTION ONE in the tutorial below, check to see what the "Max Usage" amount is set to for the drive the restore points are being created for. If it's set to low, then the older restore points may be getting deleted to make room for a new one.

Hi Brink,

Thanks. I checked and it shows 20%. I have changed this to 40% and hope this solves the problem.

The problem was that at the end of the day, I shutdown my laptop. Before shutting I could see a few restore points. Next day when I reboot and check for restire points, I couldnot see any. In otherwords all my restire points were getting deleted. I will check once again tomorrow and revert.

A better/safer approach is to use a backup imaging program such as Macrium Reflect (free).

If you have the needed space (for the image) on another partition or preferably an external HD, you have more control for keeping/deleting the image(s).
It is also a complete "copy" of your OS partition.

I use both backup images and restore points, but i trust the images more.
