Solved Restore Points

I am in the middle of installing software on a Win 7, 64 bit pc.

I had an issue and luckily had made a bunch of restore points of which only 4 or 5 actually showed when I went to restore from a restore point.

Is there any way to increase the number of restore points that actually show when doing a restore ??

Did you click on the 'show more restore points' check box when triggering the system restore?

Were those RP manual restore points? Windows culls old automatic restore points. You can also adjust the RP size buffer.

If you made more RP's than is allowed by defined GB usage, Windows will delete Auto RP quicker too.

4 or 5 sounds average for the default GB allowance.

I did NOT see 'show more restore points'. I will look for it the next time I have use it.

BTW I found what was causing my issues installing some programs. Bit Torrent was the culprit. You have dang careful and read every line during the install of Bit Torrent otherwise you will install a programs that basically highjacks your homepage and it will NOT allow to change it.

Unfortunately it's a lot of apps you have to watch out for now. Many used to be 'safe', but as popularity spreads and to keep it free, they bundle stuff. The days of 'click, click, click don't read' installs are over.
