I used windows backup to create a backup of my system on an external seagate harddrive. It created an big backup of about 11GB. Now when I try to restore my system using windows backup and restore, it shows the following message "windows could not find a backup for this computer". On selecting "select another backup to restore files from", it is not able to find the backup on the external harddrive. There is no option to browse for the backup except from a network location. So, how do I use the backup?

Hii hope you are doing well. You don't have to worry about backup. It is not very tough to restore your data... I am giving you some steps, I hope this will be helpful for you.
To back up your programs, system settings, and files

Open Backup and Restore by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Backup and Restore.

In the left pane, click Create a system image, and then follow the steps in the wizard. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

All the best!!

Hey, thanks for the reply. But i think you misunderstood my question. I want to restore my system from an existing backup, not create a new backup. The problem is that windows restore is not able to locate the backup which i have taken on an external hard drive.

I would just use 2.0. My understanding is the speed capability of 2.0 is faster than a hard drive speed capability anyway.
