Solved Restored Image?

Hi,

1. Created the bootable iso from Macrium Reflect, size approx 130 MB on CD.

2. Restored the last image to see for the 1st time, it was even better than the original OS, more crisp.

3. Options checked , Verify and Trim.

3. Back up is on Seagate Scorpio Black HDD 7200 RPM.


My questions are any dos and don'ts before and after image is restored?

TFC is a great cleaner recommended by ThrashZone, IF ever required any reg cleaner that you would recommend?

Thoughts about CCleaner?

CCleaner is by far the most commonly recommended "cleaning" product.

It has a long development history and is known to err on the side of caution. It's minimally intrusive, conservative, and problems with it are very rare.

Most would tell you to avoid registry cleaning, even with CCleaner. The benefits are very rarely noticeable and there is some risk. It's a poor trade-off. You're accepting some risk and have virtually no chance of perceiving any benefit.

If you can't help yourself and are obsessive and MUST clean the registry, do make backups before authorizing the cleanup.

Concentrate on your Macrium technique and how to use it.

I'd back up any images I'd made. They are valuable data.

You might do a virus and malware scan before making an image.

I'd avoid incremental or differential images unless you have an unusual situation of some type. Just do full images according to your personal schedule.

I like to make them manually rather than use an automated schedule because it keeps me in the game and requires that I remain familiar with the Macrium interface.

After an image restore, I'd only be concerned with a couple of things: does it work as expected and are there any changes I made to my system AFTER the image was made that I should now apply to my restored system? Such as newly installed programs or significant configuration changes.

I'd probably re-make my recovery media from time to time and stay somewhat aware of new features or new problems in new versions of Macrium, but I certainly wouldn't jump to new versions automatically. If you have one that works well and you understand it, stick with it as best you can.
