I currently use Vista Ultimate. I am preparing to move to Windows 7. Is it possible to restore files from Vista Backup and Restore Center to Windows 7 after a clean install? Thanks!

Use the "Windows Easy Transfer" utility. Will restore each of your "User" accounts with all settings. Simple, quick.

When I install the new OS, I create the first "User" account "Admin" and then only use the account for maintenance. When the OS has finished the install, I load all the programs I use. Then the "Easy Transfer Wizard" restores the other user accounts from the previous OS.

Not sure about that but the usual recommended approach if doing a clean install is to use "Windows Easy Transfer." In 7 it is found under control panel > getting started> transfer files and settings. There must be a version in Vista which you could run. Don't recall but you might be offered the choice to run it when installing W7. It allows you to back up your files, user accounts, program settings, etc. to external media. You still have to reinstall your programs after doing a clean install but then can restore the rest using W. Easy Transfer.

In Vista, you can fin Windows Easy Transfer here: Start Menu > All Programs > System Tools > Windows Easy Transfer.

You can start also by typing migwiz.exe in Start Menu searchfield and pressing enter.
