Solved Resurrecting Data From Dead Hard Drive

Logic board maybe, but not cable. I'm not going to mess with it any further, until O&O DR finishes it's scan. So far, it has found 6787 files and 565 folders, but they appear to be from an old OS installation, instead of what I'm looking for. But, if it found those, it should find what I want also.

EDIT: I agree about not trusting it, important or not, but since it is an IDE drive, and anything that I purchase in the future will be SATA, I guess I will leave it installed. Maybe I will find some kind of use for it.

I gave up on IDE drives ages ago, since I don't want to buy a new DVD combo drive and they are both IDE

I gave up external IDE hard drive on USB.
I use old IDE hard drives for routine & non critical operation.
I keep all my IDE CD/DVD burners, they never fail me on burning & booting. If buy new, i will still consider IDE burner, because I can make use of all SATA ports for hard drives.
Whenever I threw away IDE hard drive (with bad platters), i keep the logic board and magnets.

The scan finally finished with well over 40,000 files. There is alot more than I need, but there is alot more that I do need than I had thought about. Besides the documents, there are also alot of A/V that I have also recovered. As long as the scan took (5.5 hours), that is only the beginning, because of the fact that my recovery program limits each recovery to a maximum of 1000 files, so I'm ending up with alot of separate scan folders that I will have to sort through. But that is far better than it looked like earlier.

I have a mix of optical drives, but connections aren't really a problem, because I have a couple of controller cards that give me more connections than I need.

I never throw a hard drive away. They make good wind chimes, bookends, speakers, etc.

Yes, it is a waste to throw away, but I cannot keep so many w/o a reason, some HD has 4 platters, mostly 2, seldom 1.
