Hi everyone,

My daughters Ipod has all her songs on it but her pc that had them all stored in her Itunes crashed and we have now lost everything on the pc because of a clean install of win 7.

However, all the songs she has purchased and collected over the years are safely stored on her Ipod, is they any way we can save or transfer the songs on her Ipod back into Itunes.

Any help please.

Sure, I believe if you hook up the iPod and start iTunes, it will recognize the device, and you can transfer the songs.

I do not use iTunes or own an iPod, but I believe there is a setting that will recognize the iPod as a storage device rather than a mp3 player. Perhaps you can then go into the drive in My Computer and see?

Just be careful not to sync the iPod with iTunes, until you get the songs retrieved. Otherwise they will be gone forever.

You might want to go to the Apple site and check the help files as i think there is a way to get the music back. I have an ipod but i also store my music in two different places internal hd and external drive just to be safe.

go to start-> computer and then the Removable media drive thats your Ipod
What i want you to do id... go to the folder that says IPOD inside the Removable media drive
and then the folders will be like F00, F01 etc..
I need you to select them all and then copy and paste them to your local drive and then open them with Windows Media Player, and then create a playlist and save it
It will definetly save all your songs... But what my recommendation would be, uninstall I-Tunes before performing that ACTION...

First, are sure they're gone? Did you replace the hard disk? Or did you re-install over the old OS? If you did, then the old OS is backed up to a folder called Windows.old in the root of your C:\ drive and inside will be your old user profiles and their data, including all the music.

If your songs are indeed gone, then you will likely to have use a program that can transfer files from the ipod back to your computer, such as iPodAccess to transfer your iPod files back to the computer.

Heres a REAL simple way.

Download Sharepod. put the .exe on the ipod (through "my computer") open it and copy everything you your pc. its that easy.

If files on your ipod are corrupt by any chance and wont copy. like my brothers ipod, i copied band by band, and found out which songs were causing problems, and skipped them,

problem is it may erase your ipod if you try using itunes.

My way keeps your songs, in their artist folders, with their names.

I have used the program to get the songs from the iPod to PC only. I install the program on my PC and it looks for an iPod when you launch it. The readme states it can be put on the iPod also but I have not tried that. I have used it on several different iPods from 2 GB Nano to 120 GB Classic with success, it lets you skip corrupt files also.

thanks for all you advice, I now have plenty to try, but just to say to the few that said just plug my ipod into the pc if you did do that and itunes was set to start as ipod is plugged in you would loss the lot because itunes copies what ever is on your ipods play list in its pc based program and as none of the songs she has on her ipod are in her itunes it would wipe the lot, and I would be dead meat!

Worked very well my daughter is very happy now thank you, she got 612 out of her 614 songs over to her pc and the sharepod software even put them into itunes for her. Thank you very much.
