Hi, I have a virtual Windows XP running on Windows 7. Does anyone know if there is a way to run an app on the parent Windows 7 operating system from the virtual XP operating system? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel

Well it would be the same way you would have say two networked computers in which one computer started an app on the other.

Basically you can't directly, BUT you can have the two machines talking to each other through the network and in that way there are a lot of potential options and they would work for the VM/host situation the same way as between any two networked computers of the same OSes. I.e.. VB script, UltraVNC or a "Remote control" application etc...

So try searching for programs or products that allow you to do that and forget that one happens to be in a VM and the other the host. :)

fseal, Thanks for the quick response. The problem I'm having is that when I do that the app is opening in the xp version space instead of the windows 7 space. I need it to run the other way around. Do you know of a way to do that? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Daniel

Some of those programs I mentioned above allow you to run apps on OTHER PCs. You run the program on your host machine and on your VM machine and they talk to each other, then you can have your VM machine launch an app on the host through the "remote control" app..

There are too may different apps and methods involved, but I think if you just google for them that you can see what the options are.
