Run as different user does not work for one specific user

Hi all,

I have an odd problem when trying to run an application as a different user (holding shift + right clicking the icon and selecting "Run As Different User".
So, I have two user accounts: XBMC, General and test. When I try to run an application as XBMC (using either Generalor test accounts), the application never loads and after around ~30 seconds, the run as different user window reappears and mentions that it timed out.
I'm able to run applications as either General or test from any of the three accounts, it is only when trying to run as XBMC that I run into problems.
Trying to run any program as XBMC times out.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance :)

OK so I found something interesting out (I think). I should explain an extra step that I am doing.

My XBMC account is the automatic logon when I turn on my htpc and I remote desktop connect to my General account so I can install software etc.
So, if I physically logon to my General account (as in, plug a mouse and keyboard into my htpc and switch user), I am able to run programs as XBMC fine. It is only when running over remote desktop connection that running as XBMC fails.

One other piece of information: I had to use a patch to be able to have concurrent logons (so I can rdp to my General account whilst still having my XBMC account loaded on my TV).

Have you seen the following thread about XBMC not working with remote desktop?

It shows various solutions that have been working for people and it may give you an idea of what the problem might be. Apparently relocation of the User folder or the AppData folder can also cause problems with access.

It's a long thread so must be a common problem and the solutions look good to me. :)

Hey,

Thanks for the forum link. I've had a look through but I'm not sure if any of it will solve my problem. These problems are quite related to XBMC, whereas my problem actually isn't. Thanks for the info though :)

I'd be willing to bet that one of those will solve the problems and they definitely weren't all related to SBMC, suggest you spend more time reading. :)

OK, so I've found what the problem is.
Its lucid virtu MVP. When I have it activated, I'm not able to run anything using the XBMC account. If I turn it off, then everything works.
Now I have a whole new problem......

How would I go about rectifying this? I'm not even sure where to start........
