Run Newly install Applications without Restart PC?

Hello!
Some when we're installing applications they're requesting for "Restart PC before use that Software" (You must restart PC before use this software). So are there any way to run that newly installed application without restart PC or longing-off PC.

You can try killing explorer.exe and then restarting it. It used to work fine in XP.

Right click on the taskbar and select 'Start Task Manager'.
Select 'Explorer.exe' and 'End Process'.
Click 'File -> New Task (Run...)' and type 'Explorer.exe' and click OK.

The main purpose of a restart is to ensure that critical files or registry entries function properly. You may not need to restart but i'd advise that you do in order to safeguard full functionality.

If the OS kernel is being updated, then you must restart. It's like trying to chop off a tree branch while you are sitting on it. It's not possible open up the OS, patch it,then put it back together again while it's running.

Hi Jeff and Bill, I agree that if system files are replaced or patched, then a restart is absolutely necessary, but I've seen a few installs that don't require a restart, but yet ask if they can restart the system.

@bandara, if you are installing applications that replace or patch the system files, then restarting the system is a very good idea.

I'm on the fence with this one. I don't recall which apps off the top of my head, but there have been some that requested a restart and shouldn't have ever needed such a thing. However, I'm also thinking along the lines of, if it asks, it should be restarted. Considering how faster our systems are, and how fast Windows 7 boots up...it really doesn't bother me to just let it kick over.

@bandara, if you are installing applications that replace or patch the system files, then restarting the system is a very good idea.

Thats because either the installers are badly coded or they integrate so much into Windows that they are unable to copy system files and start everything necessary without a reboot. Many apps use DLLs that are shared among multiple apps, funny thing is sometimes even apps that are completely self-contained and dont replace Windows DLLs make you reboot. Badly written installers can also ask you to reboot because they cant start required services on their own.
