Hello all! First time poster here. I work at a small business, 5 employees. Our hard drive in our server is almost full. I installed a second SATA hard drive and it is recognized by Windows 7. Saturday I had to delete some files from the first hard drive as it gave me a "hard drive full" error message. Why is information not being written to the second hard drive? Thanks for any and all help!

We need to have more information about your server to be able to accurately answer you. Just taking a wild stab in the dark, my guess is, when you added the second HDD to the server, it got set up in RAID 1, which just mirrors the other drive.

Hi Sirius,
I suspect thats because the full HDD creates a temp file before it process's it to pass it on to the new drive,
The temp file is bigger than the space left and the whole operation fails.

your gonna have to clear some space first, temp files, programs etc.

This is a liquor store and we use Cap Point of Sale software. It keeps track of sales going back to when we opened, 11-11-11. Every time a purchase is made it sends the info to the server. Of course, when it is full as it was saturday, we get an error message. The original hard drive is a 300GB. The new one that I installed last week is a 500GB, is listed as hard drive 0 and the letter F and was formatted. The original hard drive is C and listed as hard drive 1.

I solved the problem. Temporary files totaled 116GB. I thank you all for your time!
