S3 "insomnia" with RC1?

Just in case this is helpful in any way to the problem that you have having, here is the sledgehammer approach that I ended up using on Windows Vista to resolve the problem where my laptop would not stay asleep or hibernate for more than 2 minutes. This really is overkill and should only be used as a last resort. (but in my case, my laptop kept waking up in the bag and I thought that it was going to cook itself.)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\BD3B718A-0680-4D9D-8AB2-E1D2B4AC806D

Go to DefaultPowerSchemeValues
Go to each subfolder ( i had 3 subfolders)
Find ACSettingIndex and change value to 0
Find DCSettingIndex and change value to 0

I (the OP) didn't take any offense (or lack of respect) from anything any of the posters here said to me.

Thanks to everyone for your help on all levels, be it spoon-feeding or just hinting. :D:D:D

I dint think you did. Apologies for not being clear. I dont care which approach works for you as long as they do. DM gets a little overbearing at times.

Glad you are working

DM gets a little overbearing at times.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing, the difference between developer communities (newsgroups, FreeNode IRC channels, and places like Stack Overflow) and this community, but I come from a community where people treat others like adults, not like children who need to be coddled and hand-held. It's insulting to the receiving end (it feels like you're calling a tech support hotline where they walk you through some inane script), and it's wasteful. I prefer a no-nonsense approach; you may find it abrasive, but frankly, I find it tiresome to read the same hand-holding fuzziness even in places where it was not necessary.
