I had the same issue with my Sabertooth; the RAM I'm using sold as 1866MHz as well, but was downclocked by the mobo. Had to manually set the RAM timings and everything worked fine after.

Did you do that already? (Just make sure you set the right ones, it might be confusing if you never did it before, there can be a lot of timings available to change)

i did set the timings and it seems to be running fine, i just dont understand why there wouldnt be an auto option to set to 1866.

i havent had any BSOD, so thats not an issue, just trying to figure out why it wouldnt register correctly but the board says it supports it

hey and another question, i assume you hook your PC up via HDMI to your TV, did you get any stuttering when playing 1080 content through VLC? i for the life of me cannot figure out why its doing that

Yeah my BIOS had some automatic setting for 1866, but it didn't take. I'll blame it on techno leprechauns.

No stuttering anywhere. Got GeForce's latest driver?

I don't have 120Hz, could be something with its interpolation of the frames. Read the tv manual?

Oh yeah, I forgot, there is a BIOS update that I installed. 0901, get it here.

About the 1866MHz, are you sure you're looking in the right spot, I forgot where it was but it's definately there. Hold on I'll reboot and check it out.

Go into your BIOS and change to "Advanced Mode", then select the "Ai Tweaker" tab, then scroll down until you find "Memory Frequency" (maybe the 7th one down), and click on "Auto". It should give you a drop down list of choices, one being 1866MHz, unless you've been overclocking, then they might've changed given the bus speed of your NB and your multiplier, I believe.

Timings do have to be set manually but won't effect the speed. You will need to set your CPU mode to manual and the set your CPU frequency to at least 233 which will get your RAM to 1866MHz or real close. This will also overclock your CPU so you will need to lower the multiplier if you don't want that. Make sure your DRAM options are all manual to allow you to set the RAM volts to 1.5V. You may need to set the CPU NB to 1.4 and add about .1 or .2 to the NB.

I didn't overclock anything when I adjusted it to 1866MHz. It was as if the motherboard just needed to be reminded of the correct factory timings, then it applied the 1866MHz speed afterwards, no problem.

True, but you have a Bulldozer chip, OP has a Phenom like me.:)
Yours is an overclock from the board's point of view. The Bulldozer supports a memory profile which the AM3 chips don't which is why manual settings have to be set. The Phenoms only support up to 1333 with out manual settings.

Hi,

I just had this problem myself and manually changed the RAM timings to fix the issue.
Now the RAM shows as 1866 in the BIOS and windows boots fine. However, when I open Speccy (hardware monitor program) the Mem slots have the info:

Type DDR3
Size 4096 MBytes
Manufacturer Corsair
Max Bandwidth PC3-10700H (667 MHz)
Part Number CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9
SPD Ext. EPP

According to DDR3 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , PC3-10700H (667 MHz) is what you would associate with RAM running at 1333Mhz. I don't know what to make of this as I don't fully understand it, but I would have expected Speccy to show me that my RAM was PC3-14900 (933 MHz), if it really was set to 1866 MHz. Am I just really confused? Or is this a valid point? Someone shed some light on this for me please!

If you will download CPUz and click on the memory tab it will show what your ram is actually running as well as the timings.

According to CPUz the speed is correct, yes?

Is Speccy just telling me a load of rubbish then?

CPUz is telling you thay the ram is runnig correct. Probably Speccy is telling you the stock speed of the motherboard setting.
