Safe to restore?

Not sure if I should have posted this here or in the vista forums, but since im registered here i just did it here.

When I got my computer, i used norton ghost to do a full backup of the windows vista that came with my computer.

So is it safe to just restore to a new partition as a SECONDARY OS, as opposed to before where it was the only OS?

If no then can I turn all the files into an install.wim of some sort, or someone tell me where to download vista HP x64 so i can use my OEM key.

On the same PC image was made from Yes,remove all HD's, restore your Ghost image, you may need to do a Startup repair.

Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.

When you have Vista booting OK, replace your Win 7 HD.reboot & download EasyBCD.
Use EasyBCD 2.0 in Win 7.

I actually cant do that cause Im on a laptop, and it was all on 1 HD.

Originally it was 1 partition with windows vista.

Now it is 3 partitions, with 7 as the main OS and active partition, a blank one that i was hoping to restore to, and a 3rd one with a second copy of 7.

Are you sure? Whould it work to backup my partitions with ghost, wipe the HD, install vista, then restore my partitions?

And it said that i can install vista wen i have 7 already installed as long as I do a clean install.

Would I be able to use my OEM install CD from my Dell Insipiron 530 and have no ill effects (I will be using the key for the same OS that is on the bottom of my laptop (which is the computer Im installing it on))

Yes, if it is a Dell Vista install disk & not a Ghost type disk.
The Dell DVD will install some of the Dell junk.
