Safely remove icon in taskbar disappeared

My safely remove icon in the taskbar disappeared after moving it into the "hidden box" and there seems to be no way to reset it - which is strange because every other taskbar icon can be reset. I got a shortcut to the safely remove dialog window with RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll , but that does not reset the icon. Any ideas how to get the icon back?

Hello Wolfgang,

If you mean the Safely remove icon in the system tray, see if plugging in a USB flash drive will trigger the Safely remove icon to display in the system tray. Afterwards, you may be able to set it to not be hidden in the Notification Area Icons settings.

Thanks Shawn. It is my laptop that I used for a class at the computer club. And since the projector changes the resolution to a misely 1280x800 on my HD screen, I ran out of real estate in the taskbar and was trying to make some room by moving shortcuts into the hidden box.

I will try your suggestion when I fire up the laptop. As patch I have moved the shortcut to the dialog window from RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll into my Rocket Dock.
