Hey all,

I have the Samsung EVO 840 SSD (500GB) as my Windows 7 x64 Pro boot drive and read somewhere on the internet that Samsung recommend that Intel Rapid Start is turned off not installed. I don't recall reading this in the documentation that came with the SSD though.

I have Intel Rapid Start installed on my PC as it came with the ASUS Maximus Hero VI Motherboard driver/utilities CD.

I also have two other drives in my system, a 256GB Sandisk and a 1.5TB 7200rpm HDD. All three are connected to the Intel 6Gb connectors on the mother board.

Should I be uninstalling Intel Rapid Start? Does it make a difference? I should point out that I never let the system sleep or hibernate. I always power down completely.

Thanks.

Saphire fan is noisy. Case fans are almost silent. Love the case.
I don't think that Intel Rapid Start does anything to improve the performance of an SSD. It's function is to wake the PC faster from sleep state.

What is Intel® Rapid Start Technology?

If you are running Samsung Magician software to manage the SSD then there could be a conflict with Intel's Rapid Start, but I am not sure.
