Thank you for looking in at my quandary.

I installed a Samsung 850 EVO SSD on my Lenovo T400 along with an 8GB RAM kit but being impatient in waiting for the SATA USB cable arrive so I could migrate W7 across I installed Ubuntu on it.
Now I have the cable I want to migrate the W7 across to the Samsung SSD but Windows won't recognise the SSD.

Would this be because Ubuntu is on it? If so is there a way I can get windows to recognise it so I can migrate or at least format the SSD?

Thanks in advance.

I assume you don't care about the Ubuntu installation or anything else on the SSD. Ubuntu and Windows use different file systems.

You should be able to format it as an NTFS partition using pretty much any partitioning tool.

I understand they are different file systems and yes I have no desire to keep Ubuntu. But windows just will not pick up the drive.
It doesn't even show up on the bus controller.

You could try reformatting the drive from a bootable ubuntu USB using the system partition tools. Ubuntu should still be able to see the drive.

Thank you Rawyatt.

I don't get all the command line thing in Ubuntu so in the end I used the USB version of KillDisk and installed W7 via USB.

Great to be back on 7 :D

Thank you for taking the time.
