Hi, I'm using an older motherboard that has no SATA 3, so I installed a SATA 3 card on it. Now when I try to boot Windows 7 on it (the SATA 3 card), using 120g OCZ ssd drive, it gives message "bootmgr missing". I have another hhd and an optical drive on this computer using SATA 2. When I reconnect to the SATA 2 on the motherboard, it boots with no problem. Suggestions please. I know just enough to be dangerous, so please keep it simple:D. Thanks, Frank

Unless the BIOS supports booting to USB i don't think this is gonna work...
Unlikely it does on an older MBoard.

Perhaps a repair using the DVD would do it.
Pop your Win7 DVD into the optical drive, choose to repair from the bottom of the second screen. You may have to do this a couple or 3 times to sort it out, but the repair option should fix a missing bootmanager.

Thanks to both for your replies. I will try the dvd method and let you know what worked. Sometimes it's only impossible if you don't try. :)

For the record it isn't a usb card it's a pci card. Don't know if that would make any difference but there is much I don't know.

Hello, I just plugged both the ssd and the hhd into the SATA 3 card and it's going great. I guess it was trying to boot from the hhd which I had still on the motherboard. I ran the assessment again and the ssd improved by .6 from 6.8 to 7.4. Thanks for the responses, :)
