You may not need all files back, see: Solved: Windows Live Mail signature problems (see photo's) - Tech Support Guy Forums
I do not use WLM, but this might help.

Thank you for replying.
I was using the same tutorial as the link shown.
Something you may not realize, I DO need the All Files option in order to navigate to the image file I saved as png format.
exceprt from the tutorial :
1. From the Tools menu, select Options.
2. Click the Signatures tab.
3. In the Signatures section, click the New button.
4. In the Edit Signature section, select the radio button for File.
5. Click the Browse… button.
6. Navigate to the HTML file you just created. You may need to change the file types list to HTML Files.

When I browsed ( step #5 ) to my Pictures folder where the image signature was, and I clicked Open, the folder was " empty ", because all files there were in png formats, not Txt nor Html formats. Meaning I could not pick the image signature.

I was able to at my first try beause I could select All files option, and then select the image signature. But after I failed to show the image signature, and I wanted to start over and try again, I was stuck at step #6 above. The image file ( png ) was no longer shown to be selected.

Having the All Files option is essential or else even WM users would not be able to enable image signature.

Your welcome! The reason I posted was the OP in that thread had used the same tutorial.
I had hoped VistaRookie's explanation would help you to rethink where your file source originated from.

For now the only way I know of to regain the All Files option in save would be to reinstall WLM. I'll look into other options.

Do you have access to the SkyDrive MS has? You should if you have a Windows Live account.
Upload your sig photo to there, and then you should be able to use the HTML option.

P.S. I did a system restore 2 days back. Couldn't get the original settings back.
Your P.S. rang a bell.

With your system restore some of your File Options may have been reset to Default.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Folder Options\View Tab

Make sure the Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.

I had checked all the folder options that I used to have.
The one in question is un-checked.

Did a Repair option of Windows Live Essentials. No difference.
Did an uninstall > reinstall WLM. No difference.

It is not a big deal. On the other hand, I'd like to have the All Files option bak. The HTML option is NOT supposed to be there.

*** How does Skydrive, which I use frequently, have to do with me " Browsing " to find my image signature ?
I uploaded my image signature there. What then ?

I kind of know why the options have been changed to TXT and HTML, instead of TXT and All Files.
In step #6 of the tutorial, it says......
Navigate to the HTML file you just created. You may need to change the file types list to HTML Files.

THAT'S problem. I changed the file extension to HTML as instructed.
I should have kept it as .png

Update :

I have figured out a way to do it.

I needed to re-installed Windows Mail, and use this tutorial instead :
Windows Mail Signatures - Vista Forums

Once I had copied/pasted the Source into notepad and then saved it to a folder with htm file extension, I can now use the save as type > select html option > pick up the signature.htm and way I went.
The Vista - Windows Mail method works on my Windows Live Mail.
I didn't even have to remove a string and replace with a filepath and then append etc etc etc.

The matter has been resolved.

Thank you Anak for the time trying to help me. I appreciate that.

It seems you can not do it that way in WLM.
In our gmail I can assign a URL in our sig's, and I mistakenly equated the HTML in WLM as the same procedure. :o

Your welcome, glad to hear you were able to figure it out!
I had to retire last night, that's why it seemed like I disappeared.

MS doesn't make it easy to find help, you even have to sign-in if your not already there.

I did find this, if you want a different look at WLM: Windows Live Mail Tutorial
