Screen goes black every time I view jpg files

every time I open jpg files in Windows Photo Viewer. As soon as the jpg opens, my screen on my monitor goes completely black. The light is still green on my monitor so it still does indeed have signal to the computer. No matter what I try to hit on the keyboard (esc, ctrl alt del, num lock, anything) it does not return to Windows. The only option for me to do now is hard power off my computer by holding the power button.

I Googled the problem but nothing came up. There is no information regarding this problem

Have you tried running
sfc /scannow from administrator cmd?
and
Check for the latest Windows Updates

Do you have a restore point or system image prior to your problem start date?

Can you open a jpg file in another viewer.? If you haven't got one installed try Irfanview it's free. This way you can see whether it is a problem with MS Photo Viewer.

I'd first suspect anti virus product or screen resolution.

Try disable the anti virus before opening jpg with windows photo viewer.

Or, try a lower screen resolution. If photo viewer works at a lower screen resolution, then something is up with the graphics driver. If this is the problem, sometimes this can happen tempory, and the graphics driver restarts automatically after a few seconds wait.
