Screen Recorder

If you are wanting to record games, Fraps is your best bet.
If you want to record full screen in great quality, go for Camtasia Studio 6
If you want a free, full screen recorder with worse quality, then CamStudio

Tried Fraps. Its laggy on my laptop (Compaq CQ60). Requires an online account.

In my previous job, I used an earlier version of Bulents Screen Recorder to produce tutorial vids.
Will record only a section of screen, entire screen, Selected window, HandyCam (follows the mouse). Can also only record when noticing a change, so leaving it idle and going to make a coffee wont clock up frames and MB's! It will not work for gaming.
Havn't used the latest version though, as I believe its now non-free.

I am using Screen Recorder from this link.
- The recordings are much smaller than FRAPs
- Video is highly compressed with tolerable lossy artifacts
- It is excellent for presentations where you show a video or slides and talk over them. The slides will compress a great deal
- It is free
- Not for recording games in my opinion
- I recommend it
