Screen resolution after updating to windows 7

Hey I just upgraded to windows 7 and my screen resolution is horrible. Also when I try to fix it the only display option I get is "Generic Non-PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and the reslution slider only let's me either choose 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600. I don't even know what these means but can someone else? In computer solution for dummy terms? thanks so much guys

You'll need to get the drivers for your graphics card. If you wait a while, they may just turn up in windows update. Otherwise, google '[your graphics card] drivers' and they should come up.
