Hello,

While I was trying to upgrade my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10, my PC would try to install the updates from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as usual. However, while my PC is booting Windows 10, it would suddenly uninstall Windows 10 and force a reinstall of Windows 7 again. If I log back into my Windows 7 account, I would receive Error 0x80071F-0x2006.

This Error reads: "The installation failed in the Safe_OS phase with an error during the Replicate_OC Operation."

What does this mean and how should I proceed from here? Should I do a repair install or a clean installation of Windows 7 and try to upgrade from there?

Any help will be gladly appreciated.

Thanks,

This error has a number of possible causes - probably the most common one being your Anti-Virus.
If you're using anything other than MSE/Defender, try uninstalling it, and running the vendor's cleanup tools to get the residual crap out - then try the upgrade again.

If that still fails, try reposting in our sister forum, tenforums.com
