hi,
my screen resolution has changed to 1024x768 and thats the maximum i can choose right now. the last time this occured i had a warning dialogue box about my graphics card. i downloaded the latest drivers and everything was fine until it happened 2 more times in a span of one month. i aplied the same drivers as it was the latest one and it got fixed. but this time i got no warning dialogue box and my sleep/hibernate buttons are grayed out as well. i assume this is linked to the graphics card. my laptops specification is:

alienware m17x
i7-2760qm
ati radeon hd 6990m
4 gb ram

i scoured numerous forum threads and tried running the powercfg/h-on command and got the following response:

the following items are preventing hibernation in this system.
there are one or more legacy drivers installed:
vgasave
an internal system component has disabled hibernation

if anyone can help i'd be really grateful

Thank You

P.S. Im not really great at computer lingo, so please use easier language

Solved it! Uninstalled all ATI related drivers with driver sweeper and reinstalled older drivers from the dell website.
