Hi, I have a sony Vaio VGN-SZ4XWN/C and recently installed Windows 7. Installation was fine, however the screen resolution does not go past 1024 x 768. The monitor is wide screen 1280x800 so would have hoped for this option.

I have tried these drivers
NVIDIA DRIVERS 179.48 BETA
and it does not recognise the hardware

and this option from another post, which does not work
Vista drivers and utilities Sony Vaio SZ available | Trevin Chow

The Graphics card is NVDIA GeForce Go 7400 GPU.

any thoughts?

Right click your video adapter under display adapters, in device manager. Properties, details tab, change dropdown box to hardware ids. Copy and paste what is there to here. Most likely needed a modded driver, whether I can find one for I can make one for you.

I have a vaio vgn-sz440 and I was wondering if the drivers posted above will also work for my notebook.

I have just download Nvidia package as you suggested to solve the 1024 resolution issue. What happens now? I have run the three programs that come in the package

Got it working on a sz3hp

Managed to get this working by doing the following:

I took a guess and found that NVSM.INF from the latest 64bit nvidia drivers was the closest match. So I added:

DEV_01D8&SUBSYS_81E6104D "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400"

to the nvsm.inf section in the extracted listdevices.txt section.

and also

%NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D8.6% = nv_G72, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01D8&SUBSYS_81E6104D

to the nvsm.inf.

At the moment all is stable and working on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit !

got it to work on sz2xp !!!!!

after 4hours of digging and trial n error i got my old resolution back.
honestly i don't quite know what i did exactly...the vaio is my gfnd's machine, am a mac user:D, but i can tell you that when i open the resolution setting now it says
-Mobile PC Display (where it used to say non-pnp generic display.
i downloaded a bunch of drivers for vista, i think this one the one that did the trick:
NVDVID-01040609-UN

hope this helps guyz and good luck.

Sony VGN-T27GP/S Windows 7 Pro

I have Sony VGN-T27GP/S Laptop originally with Windows XP Pro OS. Subsequently I changed the OS to Windows 7 Pro. My problem is that the Display resolution maximum set at 1024x768 does not make the screen full and wide. There are black margins on both left and right side. I am not able to get the suitable driver even though I have updated the Vaio Update using the appropriate patches for Windows 7.

My Hardware Ids are

Please help me.
