screen resolution

hello all
i'm having some trouble with my screen resolution . i set it at (800x600) cause i'm using a 51 inch big screen hd tv. it go's full screen but then for no reason it puts the bars back on the sides of the screen. i checked and it still reads (800x600) and i can't get it to change back to full screen until i reboot. works fine in vista . i'm not seeing anything about drivers failing so i'm not sure what's happening. please help

It sounds like W7 is auto-detecting the best resolution that the TV can run under and maintain it's aspect ration, and thus keeps changing it back.

Can you use the Nvidia control panel to set a custom resolution, that may work although I have never had to use it.

Hello scrooge.

I use a 47" LCD TV for a monitor; as "secondary" I get black bars on the sides; as "primary" monitor I don't get the bars. But I don't get them either way when I have IE maximized on the 47" as secondary. Also I find that if I use a wallpaper that was saved then applied then I get the bars. If I add the WP straight from a dl then I don't get the bars as secondary.

Does any of this make sense; or help?

not sure what happened but it stoped doing it now . it's staying full screen again .
