So here's the deal. I made a 20gb partition by shrinking a partition with diskmgmt.msc. All good so far.
Then I installed Ubuntu 12.04.2 and tried to install it on the 20gb partition I made but it gave me a error trying to install it on that partion so I chose the option "Install them side by side, choosing between them each startup". The installation completed successfully but there wasn't a grub loader window. It just booted straight to windows 7.
I then restarted the computer and reinstalled Ubuntu. When the installation completed I rebooted, got into the grub loader window and selected Ubuntu. It then successfully booted into ubuntu. I then restarted and selected windows 7 from the grub window.
Windows 7 then booted successfully. I then went to my computer, looked at the 20gb partition I made and saw that it was still empty except for maybe a few mb used.
I thought since it wasn't used and ubuntu apparently didn't install onto that partition, I can delete it. So I did.
When I next rebooted the pc I got this error
"error : no such partition.
grub rescue>"
I tried booting from my Windows 7 cd to get into the rescue center but I got the same error again. I tried booting with the Ubuntu cd but also didn't get past that error message.
Help is much appreciated.
