Solved seagate 250 GB SATA write-protected problem

hello guys,​

yesterday my brother gave me a desktop computer​

Here is the SPEC:​

HP Compaq dc7800​

Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHZ​

2 GB ram "Dual channel 1 GB each”​

250 GB Seagate barracuda 7200 SATA​

no graphics card yet “will buy one soon"​

i tried to install windows 7 because there was no system on HD "New HD" even when i start-up the computer, it told me new device configuration "Seagate 250 GB"​

Anyway, the installation stuck at expanding windows files 0 %​

I tried to use USB instead of DVD but it stuck at first screen "windows is loading files"​

Also tried to install XP but in installation it gives me blue screen and told me to do CHKDSK /F​

When I do CHKDSK /F from windows 7 DVD repair ... it gives me error​

This disk is write protected!!​

i searched the internet looking for solution but no luck​

Tried to use diskpart tutorial...​

Change setting in bios... even updated the bios​

Install HD on other computer... i can transfare files to the HD with no problems​

But none works​

Now I’m totally lost what should I do??
and if i may ask, does these Hard-Drives have jumper because mine don't​

if you mean the HD ...honestly i don't know but the old HD got currpted so my brother replace it with the 250 seagate and gave me the PC

Did you try running diskpart /clean all with the W7 DVD? When you get to the screen asking for location press Shift + F10 and a command prompt will open.

hmmm,
i did clean now but didn't change a thing
still stuck at expanding windows files 0%
but thanks anyway

now i did clean all i suppose it will take some time
will post replay to tell you what happend...

nothing changed, i did the CHKDSK /F and give me the same error

when i do detail disk
current read-only state: NO
read-only :NO
etc also NO
so it can't be write-protected ?? right ?

Note: the error message i got is Volume write-protected not disk

If you have access to another computer, attach the HDD to it and see if your can format it. Put back in your computer and try again.

Is the HDD connected via SATA cable directly to the motherboard?

When I do CHKDSK /F it check the DVD that's way it say write protected
i mean i should be more specific like CHKDSK D: /f ... to scan D partition... am I right ?
If that correct ... that mean I’m back to windows expanding files 0% error
Oh 2 days and I learnt a lot from this experiment

Download Seatools for DOS, burn the bootable ISO to a CD (you can also create a bootable pendrive) and run it to check/repair your drive.

Read the Getting Started page and the tutorials/guide.

SeaTools | Seagate (It also tells you how to lowlevel format your Seagate drive and when you need to do it.)

To create your bootable Seatools for DOS pendrive, you may use Rufus v1.2.0 Rufus - Create bootable USB drives

i just solved all problems ...
the seagate HD is working with no issues i was wrong about it ...
the problem was on installition only so i use symantec ghost and install preloaded windows 7 enterprise " was going for ultimate but no deffrence XD "
