Seagate Ext USB Hard Drive -How to make bootable?

I'm sure this has been kicked to pieces.. How do I make my usb-connected hard drive bootable? or what is the BEST way, so that it would be useful to both 64-bit and 32-bit systems???

Win7 will not install & boot from a USB external HD. You would have to partition an internal HD with the other version you want to dual boot. See our tutorials section.

Zapp, I used my bios to arrange the boot priority, however if you are thinking of using an external to install an OS you are out of luck!

was hoping [duck....] i could get one of the linuxes to boot from ext hdd. its easy with a mem stick.....

You will probably get one of the Linux distros to boot up via usb connected HD.

It is trickier to install windows to a usb HD - not impossible as some would have you believe. Can't see the point , tho.

If you want to play around with Linux without hosing your main OS, either virtualize it, or run one of the distros as a LiveCD, like Ubuntu.
