Searching for alternative music player

Hi all

Not looking for anything fancy or complicated - at the moment I use WMP and I am happy playing 320k mp3s although this might change and the requirement is an easy method of cutting the last played tracks from a random list and placing them at the bottom of the list. Also it would be nice to add new tracks in a random order to places within the list. The main thing is to listen to something new rather than repeat stuff. My list mainly consists of favourites and will probably not exceed 1000 items.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

when i play a folder of music that has a few hundred tracks in it i use xion, i only use it for playing large directories, it wont allow you to move tracks to the bottom of a list but will allow random tracks.
there are also some nice skins available,there is a link for skin consortium at the bottom of the link page.
you can save and load directory playlists.

Thanks, I'll have a look at these, so many players about. Just had a thought maybe I should just remove them from the list after playing, add any new items and reshuffle. I could also maintain a 'master' list of favourites, again adding when necessary. Aim basically is to listen to a wide variety of my favourite stuff but not repeating. Can't understand how a simple copy/paste isn't part of WMP. :huh:

I only use WMP for watching videos, and I select them by double-clicking them from a Windows Explorer location. That keeps most of WMP's maddening quirks from bothering me.

hehe, it is free but then are so many other decent alternatives it seems - like much other software.

I have recently discovered noizemapper and I really like it. It stands out from other players because it displays your library through a graph, instead of lists.

That would drive me nuts. I personally prefer a tree (lists on steroids?) with flexible search capabilities. My favorite is MediaMonkey. WMP is too inflexible for my tastes.
