Solved Second monitor dropout power scheme at fault?

Hi

Usually I'm able to Google my way through any issues I have p.c wise, however I cant seem to find any info on my problem which is a little annoying so I have landed here as a last ditch effort to resolve it.

I have noticed that when I allow the p.c to enter power saving mode and the displays switch off I start to hear the alert for new hardware connected and hardware disconnected - its spams constantly on off, on off etc...

When I wake the p.c all my windows that where on the second display have moved over to the main one and i have to go put everything back.

I don't know if it is a problem with my hardware or if its something in the system settings that I am overlooking and any help would be appreciated.

I hope I have explained this in a manner that somebody which suitable knowledge will understand and thanks in advance for any with advice.

hi welcome to the forum

i would narrow down what port it is that think something is plugging in and out. remove the front panel usb blug from the motherboard and see if sound goes away.

Yes you have a good point which I didn't consider.
However if I unplug the second display while the p.c is running I get the hardware disconnected sound.
That alert is usually reserved for USB devices, although I'm still at a loss why it happens when my p.c employs its power-scheme settings and why my monitor drops out and everything has to be re-positioned.
Thanks for the tip, will look into abnormal USB behavior as I am getting a message saying that my USB device can perform faster which I am starting to assume is related to my issue.

it kinda sounds like the port for the second monitor is faulty. but i never heard or seen a sound for connect and disconnect from a monitor just usb. maybe the cable on the second monitor is faulty can you try another cable?

Yeah you got it in one with the faulty port.
Fortunately its not an issue once I swapped it out for another port.
The USB issue was a faulty extension cord I replaced and I'm not getting the 'device can run faster' message anymore.
