Secret Folders/Files

Greetings! I hope this is the right place for this, but I have a problem. I wanted to hide certain files in the searches. First, I made a folder, and then I made a locking device that had a secret folder attached to it (the secret folder could only be accessed once I had entered the password I had chosen, and locked again after I was done). However, any files I put in there would still show up in search in the folders above it. So, I hid them, and made it so that hidden files would be shown. However, this applied to the folder above it as well, unfortunately, with no option to make it particular to that folder. I tried making the secret folder hidden, but then the locking device messed up so I had to redo that step. So, I removed this folder from the index, as was suggested. But the stuff still showed up in the searches. There is one solution, but I really dislike it. I have to go to folder options, and then choose "don't show hidden files/folders" every time I am done. But there has to be an easier way than that! If I have to leave quickly and I forget to change it back or have no time, my files will be exposed to others! Please tell me how to create a folder that contains files that will be shown only in the folder and not in searches from outside the folder. I already know how to password protect it, but you can still access the files within through search on the outside. Thanks!

Put all the files you want to hide in a folder and then encrypt the folder.

From the content of your post, it appears your computer is accessible to others and you are attempting to keep some files/folders private and hidden, so others won't be tempted to view the contents. If that is the situation, the best solution would probably be to buy an inexpensive thumb drive to store the files/folders and encrypt it. You would have exclusive and quick access plus security.

You could mark the folder as hidden, disable the showing of hidden files, remove that folder/path from the index, and then create a shortcut to the folder with a mis-matching icon. When someone searches for it, it would not be found, because you're not displaying hidden files and searches for that folder will not show the shortcut to it. The only way someone would be able to find it is to enable hidden folders and navigate to its location (or a search from the command line for hidden files), while you'd be able to go to it from your shortcut you created.
