Solved Sections of desktop update only upon system reboot

I am running windows 7 professional 64 bit on my custom built PC that I built over a year ago now. I recently got a new monitor for the computer and since then sections of the desktop will not update unless I reboot the computer, sleeping doesn't help and neither does the F5 key. The mouse shows up in those sections, I can still move things around, but they will not show up, unless they were there before the system reboot. Highlighting the screen also is not visible, but still works in these sections. Basically, everything still works, but nothing but the mouse or anything previously there shows up in these sections (and anything that was there previously and is moved appears to be a picture on the desktop). Even changing the desktop only changes the unaffected sections. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Emmett42 and welcome to WSF. Does the issue change if you plug the old monitor back in? Are you using HDMI or DVI-D or DVI-I? What is your is your screen refresh rate set at? What fixes have you tried if any?

Thank you. I have tried all three. The problem exists with DVI-D and DVI-I. I was unable to get my computer and monitor to work with HDMI. I couldn't find anyone else with the same problem. The screen resolution is 60 Hertz on both monitors. Also, when I switch monitors, the problem fixes itself until I put the computer to sleep or restart it at which point the problem resumes... on both monitors, which is weird because the problem didn't exist before the new monitor. I have not tried any fixes as I was not sure where to start.

I would start by updating your Radeon Drivers This may be a driver issue.
