Solved Secunia PSI?

Hi again.

I have been reading about a program called Secunia PSI which monitors all programs on your PC for security holes and then downloads the relevant patches.

It is free and looks to be quite a good idea but before I install it I was wondering if anyone is or has used it. If so, what were your thoughts?

It's a good program. Just be sure to uncheck any 'pre-checked bundle ware' that you don't want!

I also use it. While I'm still happy with it and feel it is worth having, it's not as good as it used to be. I also prefer to have it notify me that a program needs updating rather than automatically updating it; I've also had better luck updating some programs myself rather than letting PSI do it for me.

Avast free has a similar function that works faster than PSI but isn't as complete as PSI. Between the two, no necessary updates slip by me.

I use PSI 2.0, not the newer PSI 3.0 version.
I prefer the older 2.0, as I have more control than 3.0.
I don't do any updates via PSI, I just run the scan and manually download and install anything that needs updating.

I also use FileHippo Update Checker.

FileHippo Update Checker checks for program updates.
Secunia PSI checks for missing security patches and end of life programs.

Actually, PSI also checks for program updates.

From what I've seen it lists program updates if there is a security patch in the program update.
It doesn't list all program updates.
I could be wrong, but that's the way it seems to work for me with PSI 2.0.

That's why I use PSI and FileHippo Update Checker - each can show different things that need updating...
