Serious critical stops

Bought Sony Vaio laptop from PC World 8 May, turned on, kept stopping/crashing, and very many times each day since. Googled and run diagnotics etc and found 'event viewer' that states the same important/serious/critical issues (eg STOP: 0x000007F) I'm having were happening when it was built, last Oct/Nov, ie I assume when they were setting it up at factory.

I've att 2 screenshots, one showing factory errors and one from today. Does this confirm that the faults on the laptop were there from build?

Don't know what to do. If I could fix I would be happy. If I can't I will take it back to PC Word but not confident they are going to be very helpful when I ask for a replacement laptop.

Thanks

Hi and welcome

This one may be trouble.

Your 7F means

Bug check 0x7F typically occurs after you install a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or if installed hardware fails.

Since it has been happening since they built it I would consider having them fix it. I dont often give up on a thread and I am not on this one but I have googled both the 7F and the event ID 106 source diagnostic. Both come up with cpu issues.

If you are reluctant there are a few things to try (but again contact them to insure you dont void the warranty)

First run a system file check to check to OS (safe)

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

Second Make a restore point and update the BIOS

zigzag, thank you, I thought it looked bad. I think I will go back to shop and see how I do. I'm just about to restore to factory settings to see if problem still exists (I know it will cus it was at factory but need to do this to prove to shop) - I think I press Alt+F10 at start-up (not sure exacty when?)

thanks soo much

Was this a new or used laptop? And you bought it a week ago? I wouldn't even mess with it and take it back and get a new one or get your money refunded.
