Well my windows 7 install was fine all the way up to RTM when my computer started freezing randomly for about a minute. I have tried reinstalling and linking it to a specific application but still cannot find the cause.
I do get an error message in event viewer which says this:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort1.
The times when this error appears do not coincide with when my laptop freezes however. I've tried disabling DMA and formatting my hard disk to no avail.
So if anybody could help me solve this mystery, hopefully without buying a new laptop I'd be very appreciative!
EDIT: I've also tried S.M.A.R.T tests on my hard drive and all came back fine.
