I would recommend Logmein go to logmein.com and they have a free version that will allow your wife to completely control her work computers from your home PC.
1st create an account on logmein with a valid email address.
goto her office machine and log into logmein.com with that email address and password.
they add the office machine to your account and have it install the software for remote logmein.
run logmein on that computer and make sure that there is a password set.
reboot the machine and IF her work administrators have not blocked the ports that logmein uses
it should be on-line.

then at home go to logmein.com and login and if your wife's office computer is on, you should see it
in a list of available machines.
then you can connect and remote control her work computer.
Make sure that it gets logged off properly.

I suggest contacting the IT dept at work for instruction on gaining access to their network.
