Setup of Windows Explorer

I want my Windows Explorer to always show 'list'. So, I opened Explorer, set the folder view to 'list', then > tools > folder options > view > apply to folders. However, the next time I opened 'my music' folder I got a details view, and when I opened 'my pictures' folder I got a tiles view.

Is there any way I can have Explorer show a list view for all folders or is it time to seek an Explorer replacement? Thanks in advance.

You are only setting the view for folders of that type, i.e. Music. You may need to apply it to each category of folder. Folder Template - Default - Windows 7 Help Forums
