Something really bad happened with my computer.

I can't open programs like My Computer, Recycle Bin, Personalizize, System, and many other programs. When i click on them, nothing appears.

Another thing is, the Save As, Save, and Browse buttons don't want to open.
Again, when i click on the buttons, nothing appears.

Can somebody give me an explanation what's going on?

How do i fix this major problem?

This thing is really annoying!

Would really love some help.

So your computer boots up and shows the desktop? My Computer, Recycle Bin, Personalizize, System are not programs . What actual programs have ou got installed on your PC? If you can read Save as, Save etc you must have a program open Which one is it nd how did you open it? Have you got an anti virus software installed and if so is it up to date?

Hello Silver, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this just recently happened, then you might see if you may be able to do a system restore at boot using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened to undo it.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

The symptoms you describe are generally associated with Malware. I suggest you download Malwarebytes Chameleon from;

Use Malwarebytes Chameleon to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on an already infected system : Malwarebytes Support

Follow all the instructions on that site, not just the download portion.

Please post back your results!

Well, at least can you find a fix at least with the Save As., Save and Browse buttons?

I can't save a damn thing like for example, on editors (Starcraft II, Warcraft III) and i've made maps for these games.

Is this post answering Brink's or Sir Georges post as I can't see that either referred to clicking "Computer" The only reference to Computer was a RIGHT click instruction? Please clarify.

First and foremost I would definitely follow Brink's advice regarding System Restore. But you may want to try it while in Safe Mode.

If you want to try something different then try these:

Click on Restart and hit F8 (for most computers) to enter start up selections. Click on Safe Mode with Networking and enter. (While in Safe Mode when you click on My Computer or Recycle Bin and nothing happens, it's pretty well determined that you have to do a System restore...and it can be done while in Safe Mode. See Brink's tutorial below on how to do it). Once in Safe Mode launch whatever browser you use and go to Microsoft's site and download and install Security Essentials. Run a full system scan. Malwarebytes is excellent, but this is another very good A/V and malware detector that may catch something Malwarebytes missed. Some like Security Essentials, some don't. I'm a big fan and the ONLY A/V and malware detector on my computer. It has caught things missed by other programs and I've NEVER had malware or a virus since installing. Personal opinion.

Next in line would be to download, install and run Combofix from here: ComboFix Download. A very good program for hunting down and fixing computer threats. (Personal choice)

One thing I would definitely do is download Hijackthis. It does not have to be installed. Just run the executable. HijackThis Download. After you run it it will create a log file (.txt) and put it on your desktop. Open your browser and enter http://hijackthis.de in the address bar. You can either copy and paste the entire contents of the hijackthis text file into the space provided at the bottom of the page or you can click on browse to locate the file. Click on Analyze. Hijackthis will analyze the text file and then display a detailed report on what is good, neutral or bad. If you run it and you can't interpret the results, post the .txt file here.

If nothing found then run chkdsk. Follow this tutorial and run it based on what you can and cannot get to start. Probably have to run it at startup.Make sure to check the repair option. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html.

You probably have malware that has to be gotten rid of first and foremost and if it were me I would do it from Safe Mode. System Restore is still you best option. Just go back far enough when you KNOW that the system was working properly. You may have to reinstall any programs you installed after that date, but that's a small price to pay for getting your basic operating system to function properly.

These are just my opinions and things I would try based on the symptoms you posted.
