Torrent DL speed is dependant on others you are connected to, and thier upload speeds/location etc.
Not much you can really do about it.

Just curious, Why not just DL Ccleaner from the official site though? Will only take 3 seconds?

this is the 3rd time I ever used utorrent.
I also d/l revo & easy cleaner

I was told that torrent stuff was more up to date


where can I d/l revo,easy cleaner and ccleaner?

Hi Carmine. Your security is looking MUCH better. Very good. Did you run the test with security set to low? If you did, I am sure you saw a big difference.

Yes, definitely uncheck this; it will stop your computer from answering the pings. Then you will be about as secure as you can get with a router. You can run ShieldsUP again and you should pass 100%.

The most up to date and the safest downloads always come from the programmer's website... Google the program name and look for the homepage...

I use WPA for a linksys router, but it was installed with a computer that is now long gone.

Can i still change these settings without installing software? by going to the routers "default page"?

I will do this test when I get home. I cant access the internet without the key so I know the thing is set up correctly. I just dont know how to make it more secure or if it is. I am super happy you posted this.

Yes, you should be able to get to these settings via the the router's default page. I have not used a Linksys in about four years and I really don't remember the firewall configuration pages.

It is nice to leave Windows firewall up or run a 3rd party one just to be safe. It also goes to show that a hardware firewall is enough protection if your system is clean from malware and viruses.

You never need more than one firewall running... on the WAN port of the router. Well, unless there's someone on your LAN you don't trust... The packets are dropped by the first firewall they hit... anything beyond that is just a waste of CPU time.

FWIW here's my "Shields Up" report... Router firewall only, all windows firewalls disabled network wide, no Anti-Virus running and now auxiliary firewalls... Nobody's going to connect to this...



... no matter how hard they try.

No open ports, but one was closed. all others green. no responses to ping....pretty good, but what should I do for the closed port?

Which port is it?
Which program uses that port?
Is it port-forwarded in your router?

i.e. Investigate...

Frankly, I'd suggest you not install the router's software. Use the HTTP interface where you can get at ALL the settings.

Frankly, I'd suggest you not install the router's software. Use the HTTP interface where you can get at ALL the settings.

Some routers use a client program (like my Mikrotik). Usually those with administration clients will have only basic configuration presented in it's web interface.
