Solved Should I install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Update?

I'm a guy who likes to keep all the software on my laptop updated to the latest version (Except Windows updates). Recently I saw on the web that there is a service pack update for Windows 7 named Service Pack 1 and searched more for details about this update and found that many users who have updated to Service Pack 1 are experiencing slowdowns. I have already downloaded the genuine SP1 ISO file for the Ultimate version and hesitating to go for a fresh install because of these bad reviews.
Will a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (x86) make my computer slower than my current non-SP Ultimate (x86) edition as many users have posted on the internet? If so how can I overcome that problem?
Please help me :)

I'm one who applies pretty much all OS updates on all my machines (other than hardware drivers from MS update) and have never experienced a slow down due to updates being applied. IMO, even if you don't apply any other updates you should apply SP1.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
I've heard no reports that SP1 slows down Win7 at all.

If you don't have SP1 then you don't have Win7.

A SP is like a engine overhaul - it becomes the engine itself.

:ditto::thumbsup:
Their are also my security issues taken care of in SP-1.

Do your updates whether you like them or not.

How are you activating Ultimate?

Usually the ISO files for windows 7 are bootable. You may download the trial version of UltraISO. Load the ISO file in to this program and check for bootable functionality.

Because Windows updates are kind of annoying... :/
You might want to consider switching to Linux then, to be honest....although that has an update system as well.

Dare I ask, but what's annoying about a small prompt telling you there are security updates and fixes readily available to your system?
