Should I restore my factory settings

i have just brought a new laptop. I got a bit excited and downloaded to much software etc and made to many changes. now Im not happy with it!

should i restore to factory settings and start fresh?

Restoring to factory settings is a good idea, but before that, back up your user dara and other data (documents, music, movies, pictures etc) externally.

You could consider using System Restore to a point before you went crazy with the software downloads--if you have such a restore point. If that fails or is unavailable, then using your factory restore partition or disks would do it.

If I may offer another suggestion. Download a plain vanilla Windows 7 disc from MyDigitalLife.info and do a fresh, clean install. Get the version that corresponds to your version, and then go to your manufacturer's website and download your drivers to a flash drive. Your end result will be even better than when you first booted up the new laptop.

You want to go under Media Refresh, and choose the language, version, and platform you need (such as Home Premium, English, x64).

I use to do that. Download a bunch of crap I really did not need then I deleted it and the programs always left junk files. Then I learned to just use what comes with the computer except CCleaner, Revo Uninstaller and a cupola of good virus programs. You think its gonna run better if I get all of this stuff that promises its gonna run better. The bad thing about re-installing is you have to update all those windows files. But its a good way to start over unless you do the same thing again and start loading up with junk you don't need. Done that...

Next time you go 'crazy' with Software, use Sandboxie so they do not get fully installed and you can remove them with an ease of a button. If you like it however you can install it.
