Should I upgrade my RAM?

I currently have 4gb of memory and am wondering if I should be making an upgrade to 8gb? Since 6gb will cause me to lose 1 channel? (3 x 2gb ddr2)

Not sure why but I have 500+ mb reserved for hardware as well?

I see no reason for more memory unless you can document that you are using all you currently have--how often does that happen for you? Every minute? Once a day? 5 times a year?

The hardware reserved memory is for the video card.

It depends on your needs. For general, everyday tasks, then no you don't need to go to 8GB.

If you run a VM's, mount a lot of ISO's, photoshop etc , then yes 8GB is a good idea.

Depends on your motherboard/system. Some have maximum RAM usabled. Do spec search of your system, and see what the max RAM is. You don't want to be spending money for no good.

judging by the screen caps it appears you are running a 32 bit OS thus putting more in will be pointless as the 32 bit OS wont use more than 3.25gbs (roughly idk the exact number). to use more than that you will need a 64 bit OS.

Its a 64 bit system guys.. and my mobo will support up to 8gb, it happens at least once a day a I have a small PostGres database running.

If you already have win7 64 bit installed & you have the money for the memory. Go for it. Just make sure you match the new 4gb to the current 4gb Brand , speed, etc.
