It is very easy to migrate the OS to the SSD. But do NOT use Ghost.

For the geeky way, you can follow my tutorial. In that case, I suggest you first move the bootmgr to C : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/209885-bootmgr-move-c-easybcd.html Then you have to only image and restore the C partition and can forget about the 100MB system partition (or in case of a Dell, the active restore partition)

Used Paragon Migrate OS to SSD. The best $20 I have ever spent. Incredibly quick. Almost too quick in the sense that I doubted it did it correctly. One of those too good to be true situations.
Worked perfectly. Have been running off of my new SSD for a week now flawlessly.

You did not let it run to the end and missed essential data like access time which shows only with a complete run. And 47C is nothing to worry about.

I thought I'd test ASRock's XFast USB out on my WD USB 2.0 drive

A slight improvement but nothing like the performance gain the guy gets in the video. He's using an SSD in an external enclosure. His scores with XFast on "Normal" look low to me.

That's an SSD and HD Tune is not designed for SSDs. You should check out the SSD thread

I just picked up a 3TB WD USB 3.0 drive and tested it with XFast USB. Results on Turbo are actually a little worse

These new 1TB WD10EZEX blue drives have some really great sequential speeds, are very quiet and sport 64MB cache and new technology format (internal). Topping 190 MB/s at the end of the platter and about 150 MB/s mid-platter. Using them for backup of my SSD is quite fast. You can get them for around $85.

The burst rate is sure far from the read.write speeds shown, and what are the yellow specs?

Yellow specs = random access latency across platter the with the scale on the right hand side of the graph.

BTW, just a heads up. The free version of HDTune will change the "put the computer to Sleep" time to "Never" and will not restore what you had it set to. Took me a while to figure out HDtune was messing with my power plan.
